My profile

As a social and cultural anthropologist, my field of research lies at the intersection between visual, digital and media anthropology. I am also interested in innovation and the development of design-focused, forward-looking qualitative methodologies for research in the field of digital ethnography.

Creative practices, participation and digital media

Analysis of social transformations and of processes of continuity and change in cultural production in relation to creative practice and forms of production based on participation, collaboration and open knowledge.
This includes cultural innovation in the areas of audiovisual production: public and independent production; crowdfunding; co-creation among users and cultural industries; forms of relation among audiences, museums and artistic experiences; creation of online open knowledge; free culture, commons and urban laboratories.

Experience, visualization and new cultural forms

Analysis of the experience and new forms of sensoriality related to the development of digital technologies such as Geomedia, apps, augmented and alternative reality, and established and emerging cultural forms such as digital storytelling, transmedia and videomapping.
This includes the analysis of the strategies and elements of embodiment in digital communication, taking into account the intersections between body and gender and the performative aspects in the construction of advertising, intimacy, sexuality and the body

Digital materiality, innovation and design of the future

Analysis of the forms of relation of people with objects within the context of the design, development and implementation of digital technologies in everyday life.
This includes the study of interactive artefacts and intelligent objects (Internet of Things), taking as a starting point the materiality of digital technologies and the materiality of cultural forms and social processes that these technologies offer, seen in relation to expectations of social change and future imaginations (Smart cities).

Methodological innovation and open knowledge

Methodological innovation (methods, techniques and technologies) for qualitative research in digital culture. Teaching innovation in educational methodologies and forms of open knowledge.

Methodological advice. Customized training and advice on qualitative and ethnographic methods and techniques for the study of digital culture.
Design, monitoring and/or evaluation of creative projects. Consultancy, participation, monitoring and/or evaluation for the development of creative projects related to co-creation, public participation and experience design.
Research in cultural innovation. Realisation of studies on design, uses and appropriations of digital technologies, studies of public, audience and user participation.
