Sílvia Sivera's R&I activity focuses on how information and communication technologies (ICT) are being used by organizations (advertisers and advertising agencies) in communication, especially for advertising purposes.
Her main research interests involve studying the nature and dimensions of viral marketing and advertising, as well their social media engagement. She also specializes in advertising creativity from the perspective of new alternative forms of persuasive communication.
As the director of the UOC's eLearning Innovation Center, her main field of activity is educational innovation.
2020 - Jaume Vicens Vives Award for University Teaching Quality, granted by the Government of Catalonia in recognition of her career committed to fostering students' creative abilities through the creation and implementation of innovative tools, methodologies and resources in online creativity teaching, as well as transferring and disseminating knowledge.
2015 – 6th Prat Gaballí Award for the promotion of research on advertising and public relations, granted by the Catalan Advertising and Public Relations Association (now the Catalan Marketing and Communication Association), for her doctoral thesis "Marketing viral: claves creativas de la viralidad publicitaria" (Viral marketing: creative keys to advertising virality).
