Dr Jordi Planella is a researcher at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya's (UOC) Laboratory of Social Education (LES) and the University of Barcelona's (UB) Research Group on Pedagogical and Social Thinking (GREPPS). His R&I activity follows three distinct lines of research:

The first line focuses on disability studies, an activity he carries out through the Randstad Foundation-UOC Chair in Disability, Employment and Social Innovation, which deals with issues such as the incorporation of people with disabilities into the world of work and the social anthropology of disability.

The second line, which is organized by the GREPPS group and linked to pedagogical thinking, focuses on the theory and philosophy of education, and explores research topics such as sensitive pedagogy, contemporary pedagogical thinking and the history of education.

The third line focuses on body practices and body studies, with themes such as bodily pedagogy, and cultural practices and the body.

He holds the following accreditations: private university professor, lecturer, research and advanced research by the Agency for the Quality of the University System of Catalonia (AQU)

He has undertaken three six-year research periods (the last of which is ongoing).
