The aim of this line of research is to analyse changes in the circulation of representations of East Asia in the West in multiple fields and disciplines from a theoretical point of view and/or focusing on specific case studies: analysis of representations in the media, literature, film, advertising, and so on.

This line of research aims to reflect critically on the meaning and potential impact of globalization on the discourses of the academic world in humanistic disciplines such as literature and history.

Intellectual history in East Asia

This line of research focuses on the development of East Asian intellectual history, including the analysis of philosophical and religious traditions and mutual contacts and influences with Europe during the transformative stages of the modern and contemporary era.

Sinophone studies and Taiwan studies

This line of research investigates cultural phenomena occurring in Sinophone contexts around the world, placing special emphasis on the case of Taiwan.
