Holder of a degree in Economics and Business Studies (specialization in Enterprise) from the University of Oviedo, a master's degree in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University, a doctoral degree in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Barcelona, and a master's degree in Industrial Quality from the National Distance Education University (UNED).

Currently, she is an associate professor at the UOC's Faculty of Economics and Business, where she teaches courses related with business organization.

She has also been director of diplomatura in Business Studies (2006-2009)and the Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management from the time the degree course first became available until 2016. Currently, she is dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, where she was associate dean for teaching from 2016 to 2019.

The R&D activities of researcher M.Jesús Martínez focus on the study of service quality in virtual learning environments from a user (student) viewpoint. The aim is to identify the variables that students deem important when it comes to grading as excellent the service provided by a virtual university, as well as the scales best suited to evaluating this service.

She also centres some of her research on the study of the use of online training feedback, focusing on the use of ICT to perform feedback that is sustainable in classes of more than 70 students.

Her main research interests are the analysis of service quality in virtual learning environments, company use of e-learning, improving training feedback and the study of virtual workgroups.

She also specialises in business organisation. She is a member of the UOC's MeL (Management & eLearning) R&D group.
