She holds PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2002) from the Universitat de Barcelona, a Master's Degree in Biotechnology (1995) from the same university and a Master's Degree in Conflictology (2008) from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
 
She is currently the associate dean for research and full professor of the Faculty of the Health Sciences and the head researcher of the eHealth Lab Research Group. Her research has ranged from basic biochemical sciences to translational medicine and public and digital health. She is a teacher of the UOC's Master's Degree in Digital Health and a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Digital Health. 
 
Her research lines are:
 
• Design, implementation and assessment of digital health solutions.
• Preparation and validation of tools to measure and assess digital health interventions.
• Application of digital solutions to solve the major challenges facing global health, especially in low- and mixed-income countries.
• Design and evaluation of the digital skills of health professionals.
