Investigadors IN3 - Internet Interdisciplinary Institute

My work has been always, and radically, interdisciplinary at the crossroad of many intellectual trajectories, from Urban Studies to ICT, from Human and Economic Geography to Visual and Media Studies. This has been translated in many papers and contributions as well as teachings in diverse faculties such as Arts & Humanities and Economics, Media Studies and Sociology, Geography and Politics.

My research development benefited greatly from a 2,5 years postdoctoral positions at Maynooth University of Ireland, working with a leading scholar in the field of urban technologies, prof. Rob Kitchin. During this period, my expertise around the ‘smart city’ found scope in various publications co-authored with the P.I. of the project and in a book collection, which I curated. Subsequently, I wrote my first monograph Citizens in the ‘Smart City’: Participation, Co-production, Governance. Routledge (2021), which I completed during the first six months of my current postdoctoral post at IN3 (Beatriu de Pinos 2018). At UOC, I continue to research the ‘smart city’ through a renewed interest in urban technologies, Internet connectivity and data infrastructure, and urban governance, in a very supportive and competent research environment immersed in the stimulating urban settings of Barcelona.
