Barreda Díez, Mikel

Professor Mikel Barreda's teaching activity revolves around four subject areas: political institutions, history of international relations, international politics, and comparative politics, with a particular focus on Latin America.

His main research lines are the quality of democracy and its political institutions, paying particular attention to the study of accountability mechanisms, parties and party systems, particularly in Latin America. He has published a number of case and comparative studies on these subjects in books and scholarly journals. One of his new research interests, framed within a R&I project, is to study Latin American parties' links and networks with non-party organizations
