The R&D activities of researcher Xavier Baró focus on the study of computer vision algorithms dedicated to the analysis of human behaviour, facial perception and object and scene recognition.

His main research interests are statistical learning models applied to computer vision. He also specialises in learning models based on evolutionary principles. The main applications of pattern recognition are aimed at scene analysis, detecting the objects scenes contain and the relationships between them. In the particular case of scenes involving people, he also works on analysing behaviour based on non-verbal language and interaction models. Finally, at an application level, he also works on the automatic recognition of works of art and their components, and the application of AI techniques to operational problems.

He is a member of the UOC's SUNAI (Scene Understanding and Artificial Intelligence Lab) R&D group.
