Uribe Gil, Jorge Mario

Economist (Valle Private University) and finance professional (Santiago de Cali University). He also holds a master's degree in Economics from the University of Los Andes and a research master's degree in Economics from the European University Institute. He holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona.

He has taught at the Valle Private University for its Master's Degree in Applied Economics and Engineering, the Master's Degree in Statistics and Operational Research given by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the University of Barcelona, and the University Master's Degree in Financial Management given by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, as well as the bachelor's degrees in Economics and Business Administration and Management given by the same universities.

Either as principal investigator or as part of the research team, he has taken part in different projects on the transmission of uncertainty in global financial markets, the financial risks associated with climate change and ageing populations, and asset liquidity and valuation. These projects have been funded by different organizations such as the Mapfre Foundation, the BBVA Foundation, the Ramón Areces Foundation and the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

His  research interests are: 
Financial markets, with a particular emphasis on international finance, empirical asset valuation models and risk analysis. 
Energy markets, particularly electricity and oil markets, and financing mechanisms for renewable and variable energy generation. 
Corporate finance, in particular, the intersection between macroeconomics and the signatories' financing decisions. 
Actuarial longevity and mortality risks using large data sets, econometrics and artificial intelligence tools.
