Sismanidou Kalfadimou, Athina

Holder of adegree in Law from the University of Athens and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Manchester (Manchester Business School). She also has a doctoral degree in Business Administration from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. 

She joined the UOC in 2019 as a finance professor. Previously, she taught as an adjunct professor in official master's degree programmes at EADA Business School, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the IQS School of Management.

Her research interests include topics related with corporate finance and a number of issues related with the aviation industry. Specifically, in the field of finance, her research focuses on business assessment, risk assessment using real options, and the impact of social and environmental sustainability on financial performance. In the field of aviation management, her research focuses on quantifying and predicting air traffic demand, airport capacity policies and the impact of technology on the distribution of airlines.

Apart from her academic experience, Athina Sismanidou has developed an extensive career in the private sector. She has worked at Amadeus (IBEX 35: AMS), where she developed a consolidated career in new e-commerce projects and mergers and acquisitions. Subsequently, she has worked as a business and corporate finance consultant in Ineo Corporate's office in Barcelona and has advised public sector organizations on airport infrastructure.
