My profile

Rocío Pina's work is in the field of legal psychology and, in collaboration with the ASTRAIA research group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), she conducts research into eyewitness memory, victimology, psychological profiles, sexual cognitions and expert witness assessment. More specifically, her research is around gender violence and evidence psychology, focusing on the study of cognitive representations and the assessment of attitudes, beliefs and cognitions in memories of episodes of violence.

Within the cognition and ICT line of research, she examines how the use of ICT and the multitasking associated with this use affects our cognition and, more specifically, the way in which we perceive, pay attention and remember.

Eyewitness memory

The study of the variables involved in the memory, during both the encoding and retrieval stages, of witnesses to a crime and their influence in the judicial context.

Cognitions and violence

The study of the influence of cognitions in the development of psychological violence within the context of different crimes (gender-based violence, peer violence, workplace violence, etc.).

Cognitive processes and ICT

The study of how the use of ICT and the multitasking often associated with this use affect our cognition and how we perceive, pay attention and remember.

What can we offer

Teaching and assessment on forensic psychology-related matters for the Pere Tarrés Foundation and the Police Academy of Catalonia, amongst others, giving courses on gender equality, child sexual abuse, workplace harassment, etc.

Member of the Legal Psychology Applied to Criminal Law working group of the Legal Psychology Section of the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (COPC), which provides platforms for reflection, training and dissemination around violent behaviour, forensic victimology and evidence analysis.
