Holder of a doctoral degree in Human Geography and a master's degree in Geography, both from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She completed the postgraduate programme International Development Agents, given by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and SETEM (1998).

She is currently an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, and academic director of the University Master's Degree in Sustainable Tourism and ICTs and the Master's Degree in Strategy and Sustainable Management of Tourist Destinations , which the UOC organizes jointly with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). 

The research activities of researcher Soledad Morales Pérez focus on analysing the relationship between tourism and local and regional development, from both a territorial and economic and social perspective, placing special emphasis on criteria and tools for sustainability and responsibility. She is a member of the UOC's NOUTUR (New perspectives on tourism and leisure) R&D group
