Patricia Hernández Hidalgo focuses her teaching activity on the field of criminology, particularly on the field of victimology and the criminal justice system.

She is the coordinating professor for several courses on the bachelor's degree in Criminology (Fundamentals of Criminology, Legal and Forensic Medicine, Juvenile Delinquency, Economic Crime, Gender and Crime, Police System), as well as the final bachelor's degree project. She is also the coordinating professor for the Cybervictimization course on the master's degree in Cybercrime and she teaches the Victimology course on the joint master's degree in Criminology offered by Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and the UOC.

Her lines of research are centred on the quantitative and qualitative study of the processes of victimization and de-victimization (especially in couples, families or close relationships), as well as the analysis of the role of the criminal justice system on the victim of crime. In addition, she studies crime related to new technologies and explores alternative or complementary approaches to the legal-criminal response that reduce the secondary victimization of victims accessing the criminal justice system.
