Researcher Maria del Carmen Gallego's research work focuses on teaching methodology for science, technology, humanities and social sciences without a gender gap: attitudes about how to become a primary or secondary school teacher with a gender perspective. She also analyses the prevalence of gender roles in and stereotypes about students’ skills in these subjects in primary and secondary teacher training programmes. Her field looks at the following research lines:

  1. Gender factors that influence the motivations of young people when choosing jobs and courses in ICT as well as science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
  2. The development of gender roles in and stereotypes about ICT jobs and courses during childhood and adolescence.

She is a member of the Gender and ICT: Researching Gender in the Network Society (GenTIC) research group at the UOC.
