Fiori, Mirela

Mirela Fiori is an architect and urbanist. She has a PhD in Urban and Architectural Management and Valuation from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (PhD cum laude), a master's degree in Architecture of the New Environments from the same university, and a master's degree in City Management from the University of Barcelona. 

Since 2006 she has worked at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, where she has directed the Master's Degree in Cities and Urbanism since 2012. She is a member of the editorial team of URBS, Journal of Urban Studies and Social Sciences, and of the steering committee of the UOC's International Conference on Internet, Law and Politics. 

Her research interests are multidisciplinary in nature and mainly focus on the social and economic impacts of urban transformation processes, especially gentrification and urban segregation, as well as policies, instruments, strategies and citizen initiatives aimed at counteracting these impacts. She is also interested in pedagogic innovation and social impact in higher education.
