Guillem Farrés Fernández has a PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid and a master's degree in International Relations from Jean Moulin Lyon 3 University (France), as well as professional experience in conflict contexts and in the fields of humanitarian action and development. His teaching activities mainly focus on the fields of development and humanitarian aid and on the areas of international relations and conflict resolution.

His lines of research include the analysis of international conflicts, theoretical debate in international relations, humanitarian action and international development cooperation (with a particular focus on inclusive innovation and on development theory), and the Middle East and Africa. He is a member of the TRANSMENA research project, coordinated by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
