Brasó Broggi, Carles

Carles Brasó Broggi holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and East Asian Studies and a doctoral degree in History (Pompeu Fabra University, 2010). He is currently a Ramón y Cajal fellow researcher (2020-25) at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. He is a member of the research group Alter – Crisis, otherness and representation.

His research is concerned with economic and business history in China. His study on the evolution of the Chinese textile industry in the 20th century culminated in the publication of the book Trade and Technology Networks in the Chinese Textile Industry (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016) and articles sent to journals such as Revue de Synthèse (2019) or Economic History of Developing Regions (2020).

Subsequently, he has focused on the relations between China and Spain from a global history perspective, centred in the twentieth century. Specifically, he has published articles on issues related with trade, medical knowledge and technology transfers in journals such as Revista de Historia Industrial (2017) or Modern Asian Studies (2019), among others. In 2022 he culminated a research about a group of international doctors who worked in the International Brigades and in China during the Japanese occupation with the publication of the book Los médicos errantes. De las Brigadas Internacionales y la revolución china a la guerra fría (Editorial Crítica).
