Armayones Ruiz, Manuel
Professor Manuel Armayones is director of Development at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya's eHealth Center and associate professor at the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences at the same university.
His interest is in research that raises digital literacy in health and strategies for patient empowerment and participation. He also works on analysing the psychological factors related to patient and citizen participation in online health interventions. Using persuasive technology theories, he conducts research to determine which of technological applications' design aspects lead citizens to adopt healthy lifestyle habits.
He also works on analysing both the positive and negative effects of mobile technology use, an area in which he has published numerous articles as well as a book and on which he has lectured at a number of universities.
Dr Armayones was vice-president of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER).
