The group LAIKA aims to the study of virtual or blended educational stages, where ICT tools are used to support to the life long learning process. In the framework of learning analytics, the main aim of the group is to develop methodologies and techniques to analyse educational stages, identifying significant variables, building analytical models and interpreting them in educational key to extract knowledge that can be used to improve the stages analysed in a continuous cycle of observation, analysis, intervention and improvement. Different levels are included in the short term, closer to student activity in these stages, as well as on a long-term basis, closer to the institution. The 5 main lines of research are the follwing: use of interactive tools and learning; follow-up of the student and feedback; use of open digital repositories; analysis of enrollment patterns and behaviour of the students in a MOOC.
