The PROTCIS group explores social and cultural opening and closing processes in different spheres of contemporary society, from the stance of sociology – theoretical and historical – and cultural studies, focusing the research on how we build relationally our individual and collective experiences and also the differences and inequalities that structure and legitimize the fields that articulate our society. Our interest in the social and cultural opening and closing processes leads us to focus our research on the times, events and circumstances for negotiating access to the field and the positions that will be taken up in it. This focus will be structured around the following subject areas:

  1. Social imaginaries and sociological theory.
  2. Morals.
  3. Memory.
  4. Distinction.
  5. Culture production and consumption.
  6. Education and segregated schooling.
